O we have sinned, and are become like unto men unclean,\nAnd we have fallen, like to the leaf torn from its mother branch.\nOur sins and our iniquities, like to the storm-wind have torn\nUs from you, your face is hidden, from your people,\nYou have abandoned us, beholding our guilt and our iniquity.\n3. Look down O Lord, and see the affliction of thy people,\nAnd send the One thou hast promised us. Send forth the Lamb,\nRuler and Lord of the Universe, from the desert fastness,\nTo the mountain of Sion. That he may himself, take from us\nThe bonds of our captivity.\n4. Be comforted, be comforted, Israel, my people,\nQuickly he will come, thy salvation. Why do tears and sorrow\nEncompass you? Why has grief so bitter thy features worn?\nMy own I shall save. Fear not nor tremble, for I am\nMy people’s Lord, God and ruler, Israel’s Holy One, Saviour, Redeemer.
