O Christ, before whose throne of grace\nThy mother stands to plead our case,\nExert thy love, and grant that we\nMay share thy Father’s clemency\n2. Angels, archangels, thrones and powers\nAnd all who guard the heavenly towers,\nFrom present, past, and future ill\nWith watchful eye preserve us still.\n3. Blest prophets and apostles, plead\nOur guilty cause, and intercede\nWith our offended judge, that we\nWith tears may move his clemency.\n4. May martyrs’ robes of purple dye\nWith stoles of while confessors vie,\nAnd both prevail to call us home\nFrom exile, and reverse our doom.\n5. Chaste train of virgins, blest supplies\nWho, nursed in deserts, fill the skies,\nAnd all the choirs of saints, obtain\nThat we with you may jointly reign.\n¬6. Preserve thy faithful kingdom free\nFrom unbelievers’ tyranny,\nThat all mankind united may\nOne Pastor of our souls obey.\n7. Great ever-living God, to thee\nIn essence one, in Persons Three,\nMay all thy works their tribute bring\nAnd every age thy glory sing.
