LORD, FOR TO-MORROW

Lord, for to-morrow and its needs\nI do not pray;\nKeep me, my God, from stain of sin,\nJust for to-day.\n2. Let me both diligently work\nAnd duly pray;\nLet me be king in word and deed;\nJust for to-day.\n3. Let me be slow to do my will\nPrompt to obey;\nHelp me to mortify my flesh,\nJust for to-day.\n4. Let me no wrong or idle word\nUnthinking say;\nSet thou a seal upon my lips,\nJust for to-day.\n5. Let me in season, Lord, be grave,\nIn season, gay;\nLet me be faithful to thy grace,\nJust for to-day.\n6. And if to-day my tide of life\nShould ebb away,\nGive me thy sacraments divine;\nSweet Lord, to-day.\n7. In Purgatory’s cleansing fires\n1 1 7\nBrief be my stay;\nOh bid me, if to-day I die.\nGo home to-day.\n8. So, for to-morrow and its needs,\nI do not pray;\nBut keep me, guide me, love me, Lord,\nJust for to-day.
